Story of Lāhainā Town Surf Company

“We all lost something. But in Lāhainā, we never lost each other.”

Lāhainā has a heartbeat all its own. It is a place where the ocean greets you every morning, where people still wave from their cars, and where sunsets seem to linger a little longer. Over the years, this town became more than just where I live. It became part of who I am.

I have always loved surf culture, but I noticed something missing. Most surf brands were about Hawai‘i, not from it. They showed the waves and the beauty, but they did not carry the stories, the struggles, or the soul of the people here. That is where the idea for Lāhainā Town Surf Company was born, to build something real, something that truly represents this town and the spirit of aloha that lives in it.

From day one, it was never about shirts or boardshorts. It was about giving back. With every sale, we sponsored Maui’s first free surf school for kids at the Boys & Girls Club, keiki who grew up beside the ocean but never had the chance to stand on a board. The dream was simple, to make surfing accessible to every child, no matter what.

Then came the fire. One night changed everything. My family and I lost our home, our business, every photograph and memory that told our story. But even in the ashes, something stronger rose, the heart of this community. People gave what little they had to help others. Strangers became family. In the middle of destruction, love and faith never wavered.

That was when I realized rebuilding was not about replacing what was lost. It was about restoring what truly mattered, people, purpose, and hope. Lāhainā Town Surf Company became part of that rebuilding. Not as a business, but as a symbol that Lāhainā still stands. That her people are still here.

Everything we make now is created here on Maui, designed, printed, and finished in Lāhainā. Keeping it local keeps it true. The jobs stay here. The aloha stays here. Every shirt we sell helps fund youth surf programs and community projects that give our kids pride in who they are and where they come from. Every logo we print says we’re still here. Every wave we ride is another sign of healing.

In the center of our logo is a cross, not as decoration, but as a declaration of faith. When everything burned, that faith is what carried me. It is a reminder that even when everything feels lost, God can bring beauty from ashes. The patterns around it tell the story of the ocean, strength, balance, and rebirth. Together, they capture what this journey has been, surviving the storm and believing that light always returns.

Lāhainā Town Surf Company is not chasing trends. It is built on soul, on aloha, faith, and gratitude. When you wear this brand, you are not just wearing a logo. You are carrying a story, one of love, faith, and resilience. You are standing with families rebuilding, with kids learning to surf again, with a community that refuses to give up.

After the fires, I did not think I would ever do this again. But God had other plans. He brought people into my life who believed in me and in what this brand stands for. That was when I realized this is not a comeback. It is redemption.

When you support Lāhainā Town Surf Company, you are not just buying a shirt. You are helping rebuild lives. You are keeping hope alive. You are part of something bigger, a movement of faith, aloha, and renewal.

Because Lāhainā is not gone. She is just getting started.
